AI-Native Java Developer

About the role

EY Consulting is looking for an AI-Native Java Developer to join its Transformation Realized consulting practice, which is part of EY's Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and Central Asia cluster and serves clients in Cyprus and internationally. The role combines enterprise Java development with AI-assisted engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-native applications with Java and Spring Boot, and build scalable microservices and APIs.
• Use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, review and validate AI-generated code, and contribute to reusable prompts and AI-enabled delivery practices.
• Design RESTful APIs, event-driven integrations and distributed systems, using Kafka or similar messaging and streaming platforms.
• Write automated unit, integration and end-to-end tests, perform code reviews and set up observability, monitoring and logging.
• Build and deploy applications via CI/CD pipelines in Azure or other public clouds, using Docker and Kubernetes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology/Systems or a related field.
• 3 to 6 years of related work experience.
• Experience implementing software with agile methodologies.
• Experience in international projects and ability to lead and coach developers.

Required skills

• Spring Boot, Spring and Spring MVC; cloud-native microservices.
• CI/CD, source code management and automated deployment.
• SQL and DBMS, clean code and unit testing.
• Hands-on use of GitHub Copilot or similar AI tools, prompt engineering and agentic AI.
• Application security (authentication, authorization, encryption).
• Excellent English, verbal and written.

Ideally: certifications in Java, Spring Boot or SQL; Docker and Kubernetes; AWS or Azure; Kafka; Spring Cloud Config Server.
