Software Engineer Lead - Data Conversion Discipline

About the role

FIS is looking for a Software Engineer Lead for its PRIME Conversion Consultancy team, which designs, builds and delivers complex data migration and conversion solutions for financial services technology. The team uses Oracle PL/SQL, advanced SQL tooling and modern DevOps practices, and works in an Agile framework. The role involves developing, tuning and documenting data migration solutions, consulting delivery teams and leading workstreams on major projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and tune Oracle PL/SQL code for data migration and conversion projects and own quality assurance of the development.
• Innovate new standardizations and data migration methodologies used across multiple projects.
• Design and deliver large-scale solutions with international colleagues and lead workstreams on major value-adding projects.
• Solve client data and software issues and support the client data migration and conversion lifecycle.
• Explore concepts such as agentic and autonomous AI.
• Follow coding standards and best practices, work in an Agile framework and take part in Agile ceremonies.
• Learn from experienced engineers and gradually increase ownership of solutions and deliverables.

Required profile

• 6+ years of relevant experience in database development.
• Degree in an IT-related subject such as Computer Science or MIS.
• Experience in medium to large, complex projects and end-to-end project delivery, with awareness of the SDLC.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Flexibility to travel to client premises in the future.

Required skills

• Oracle Database Development (PL/SQL) and Oracle performance tuning.
• Object-oriented programming concepts and REST APIs.
• Basic knowledge of shell, Python and Perl scripts.
• Bonus: ETL, payment industry, UNIX/Linux, DevOps tools (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes), AWS, Kafka, Java Spring Boot/Spring Batch and AI skills.
