Java Software Engineer (Junior, Mid-Level or Senior)

About the role

FIS is looking for a Java Software Engineer (Junior, Mid-Level or Senior) to join its PRIME Architects Team, which covers the full software development life cycle from requirements gathering and design to coding, unit testing, implementation and maintenance. The team uses cloud-native technologies, AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, DevOps practices and AI-enabled development to modernise payment solutions. Applications are welcome from candidates at all three levels.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop code independently and with the Team Leader, ensuring quality assurance of your own work.
• Review deliverables for content, accuracy, system impact and alignment with objectives, giving feedback and recommendations.
• Gain experience in end-to-end project implementation and delivery, and solve problems and support clients.
• Communicate and enforce coding standards, and interact with project managers, senior management and clients.
• Work with international banking clients and internal stakeholders on business and technology transformation in the payments industry.
• Support integration with external systems, payment networks, digital channels and third-party solutions, including data migration from legacy platforms.
• Promote engineering excellence through quality, automation and compliance, and contribute to modernisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Software development experience with Java.
• Good knowledge of object-oriented design and development principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work with technical teams and customers.

Required skills

• Enterprise application development with Spring Boot, relational databases, SQL and REST APIs.
• Version control with Git.
• Nice to have: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, CI/CD (Jenkins), front-end technologies (React.js, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3) or Oracle PL/SQL.
• Nice to have: payments industry experience (card issuing/acquiring, tokenisation, digital wallets, Visa, Mastercard, real-time payments).

• Salary range of EUR 27,000 to EUR 37,000 depending on level, skills and location.
