Data Platform Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for a senior leader to head Kraken's real‑time data platform. You will shape the architecture that moves, transforms, and serves billions of events daily across trading, risk, compliance, and product systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of senior data platform engineers building streaming infrastructure.
• Own the architecture and roadmap for high‑volume, low‑latency data systems (Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, RisingWave, Apache Flink).
• Design scalable data pipelines that serve trading, risk, compliance, analytics and product teams.
• Drive AI‑powered automation for data quality, pipeline orchestration, anomaly detection and self‑healing infrastructure.
• Partner with ML/AI, analytics and product engineering to deliver platform capabilities.
• Evolve the data‑lake and warehouse to support batch and streaming workloads seamlessly.
• Set technical direction balancing reliability, velocity and cost efficiency at scale.
• Hire, mentor and retain top‑tier engineers, fostering a culture of ownership.

Required profile

• 8+ years in data engineering, platform engineering or distributed systems.
• At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.

Required skills

• AWS (Spark, Athena, Iceberg, Parquet, Presto)
• Real‑time data technologies: Kafka, Spark Streaming, Debezium, CDC pipelines
• Stream processing frameworks: RisingWave, Apache Flink
• Data modeling, data quality best practices, self‑service tooling
