Head of Budgeting & Cost Control

About the role

Freedom24, an online broker registered in Cyprus offering services in the US, European and Asian stock markets, is looking for a Head of Budgeting & Cost Control. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the budgeting and cost control function, manage the company-wide budgeting process, track spending and drive cost efficiency, while leading the team and giving management accurate, timely financial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Budget planning: implement and improve budgeting methods for operational, CAPEX and financial budgets, prepare and consolidate the company-wide budget with forecasts and scenario analysis, run the full planning cycle and maintain internal budgeting policies.
• Budget control: run monthly variance analysis, monitor budget limits and escalate overspends, and support automation of budgeting and cost control with ERP and BI tools.
• Cost control: carry out regular cost reviews, propose and implement efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives, and monitor compliance with financial policies.
• Financial analysis: prepare management reports, build financial models to assess project and investment profitability, and support the long-term financial strategy.
• Team leadership: lead, mentor and evaluate the budgeting and cost control team.

Required profile

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in budgeting, controlling, FP&A or financial management; 2-3 years managing a team.
• Strong hands-on budgeting experience (operating budget, CAPEX/OPEX, cash flow).
• Clear communicator, confident presenting to senior management, highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Solid management accounting and variance analysis skills.
• Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel.
• Major ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle or 1C), invoice management systems (e.g. SAP Concur, Coupa or Emburse) and a BI tool (Power BI or Tableau).
• Nice to have: ACCA, CIMA or CPA; financial services experience; knowledge of ABC/ABM or driver-based budgeting, IFRS and 1C; experience setting up budgeting processes from scratch.
