Crewing Officer – Crew HR Specialist

About the role
Our client is an international shipping company operating in the river cruise sector in Limassol. They are seeking an experienced Crewing Officer to support both nautical and hotel teams. As the main point of contact for crew and vessels, you will manage the employee journey from onboarding through to termination and liaise with Vessel Operations, Crew Planning, Payroll and HR Operations to ensure smooth, reliable administration across the fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Manage onboarding and employment documentation for nautical and hotel crew, keeping records complete and up‑to‑date.
- Serve as the primary contact for crew members, vessels and the Operations team, providing clear information and timely follow‑up on daily crewing matters.
- Coordinate sick leave, warnings, resignations and terminations in line with company procedures.
- Prepare and verify payroll inputs, cash advances and travel expenses, and handle payroll queries with the Payroll team.
- Confirm crew changes with each vessel and record them accurately in the crew management system.
- Cross‑check Allianz invoices and follow up on any discrepancies.
- Support and mentor the Junior Crewing Officer, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Visit assigned vessels at least three times per year to maintain close contact with crew and onboard management.
Required profile
- Previous experience in Crew HR is required.
- A degree in Shipping, Human Resources or a related field is an advantage.
- Strong organisational and communication skills with close attention to detail.
- Ability to stay calm, flexible and solution‑focused during urgent crew changes.
- Collaborative working style combined with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Confidence handling confidential employee information and using HR/crew management systems.
- Fluent written and spoken English; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel for vessel visits and based in Limassol.
What we offer
- Salary of €2,100 – €2,300 gross per month, plus a 13th month salary.
- Medical insurance and reimbursement of travel expenses.
- Standard working hours Monday‑Friday 9:00 – 17:30 with a 30‑minute lunch break.
- One remote workday per week after the probation period.
