Senior Oracle Database Administrator

About the role

Playtech Sports, part of Playtech, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join its Database Services team. The role suits someone with strong expertise in Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, patching, capacity planning and production support, and experience in large-scale, high-volume enterprise environments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor database health, performance and availability, resolve performance bottlenecks and meet business continuity requirements
• Run regular health checks and vulnerability assessments, and carry out proactive capacity planning and database optimisation
• Maintain database security standards and best practices
• Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades and platform refreshes
• Diagnose and resolve critical production incidents within agreed SLAs
• Develop and maintain automation scripts in Shell, Python, PL/SQL or similar, and improve efficiency through automation and infrastructure-as-code

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• At least 5 years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience
• At least 2 years managing Oracle Database 19c environments
• Experience supporting large-scale production systems with high availability requirements

Required skills

• Oracle Database 19c, Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, RMAN backup and recovery, database security and auditing, partitioning, SQL and PL/SQL
• Linux administration, shell scripting, database upgrades and migrations, capacity planning, monitoring and alerting platforms
• Advantageous: betting industry experience, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Grafana and Splunk
