Junior Associate Director, Global Payments Services

About the role

MUFG Investor Services, a division of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group serving public and private funds with over $1 trillion in client assets, is looking for a highly motivated and analytical person to join its Global Payments Services team as a Junior Associate Director, Genesis, Global Payments Services. The role ensures the smooth operation of the Global Payments function while contributing to several strategic global initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately input, approve and process payments in line with established procedures, and investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and errors promptly.
• Liaise with clients, investment managers, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing of client payments.
• Work with Treasury, Banking Operations and Client Operations teams so that all deliverables are met.
• Ensure adherence to internal control policies and procedures, and analyse payment and query data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Act as escalation point for the team, deputize for the Manager when required, and escalate critical issues to senior stakeholders in a timely way.
• Represent the local team on global projects and lead project workstreams.
• Identify and implement process improvements, keep procedures up to date and stay informed of industry best practices and regulatory updates.
• Take part in developing new payment systems and processes, collaborate on product development initiatives, and assist with ad-hoc tasks such as audit requests.

Required profile

• Post-secondary education with a concentration in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Basic understanding of the fund administration industry.
• Strong understanding of global payment processes and familiarity with payment systems and online banking platforms.
• Experience implementing process improvements is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; proficiency with Microsoft Excel is an asset.
• Knowledge of Swift payment processing, including payment formatting and field definitions, is a distinct advantage.
