Head of Custody & Compliance

About the role

GoMining is looking for an experienced Head of Custody & Compliance to lead and develop its digital asset custody, compliance infrastructure and financial operations. The role suits someone with deep, hands-on experience in crypto custody, AML/KYC, transaction monitoring and digital asset operations, who can balance regulatory requirements, security and customer experience. It is a remote position within the IT department, reporting to senior leadership and working closely with engineering, product, legal and executive teams.

Key responsibilities

• Custody and digital asset operations: lead custody infrastructure, oversee deposits, withdrawals and transactions, manage relationships with providers such as Fireblocks, Copper and BitGo, and resolve operational risks and incidents.
• Compliance and AML/KYC: implement KYC, AML and Travel Rule requirements, build customer verification and transaction monitoring processes, and improve efficiency through automation.
• Fraud prevention and risk management: develop fraud detection, oversee transaction monitoring and suspicious activity detection, and strengthen internal controls.
• Providers and infrastructure: manage relationships with custody, KYC, AML and blockchain providers, evaluate and negotiate technology solutions, and work with engineering teams on integrations.
• Leadership: set priorities, define and monitor performance metrics, contribute to product strategy and work with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Background in crypto custody, compliance, AML/KYC or digital asset operations.
• Experience in a cryptocurrency exchange, custody provider, crypto wallet, digital asset platform or crypto-focused financial institution.
• Proven ability to build, manage and optimise operational processes, and experience leading teams or complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of operational and regulatory risks in the crypto industry, and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Fireblocks, Copper, BitGo, Chainalysis, TRM Labs or Sumsub.
• Experience managing product development or scaling custody/compliance infrastructure in a fast-growing crypto company.
• Previous role as Head of Compliance, Head of Custody or Head of Crypto Operations.
