Engineering Manager (Identity)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team that builds and operates a secure, scalable, and highly available identity platform for our digital products. The platform powers critical capabilities such as authentication, authorisation, user and service identities, access control, session management, and integration APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team responsible for identity platform services.
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and retain engineers while supporting their career development.
• Translate business and platform goals into an actionable engineering roadmap.
• Foster an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative engineering culture.
• Establish strong engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle.
• Own delivery and operation of core identity capabilities, ensuring security, resilience, and scalability.
• Drive platform evolution toward reusable, governed, and well‑documented identity services.
• Collaborate with security, product, architecture, and platform teams to meet current and future business needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams focused on backend, platform, security, infrastructure, or identity systems.
• Strong background in designing, building, and operating distributed systems.
• Hands‑on technical leadership across architecture, design reviews, code quality, testing strategy, and production readiness.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to engineering, product, security, and business stakeholders.

Required skills

• Identity and access management concepts: authentication, authorisation, SSO, MFA, OAuth/OIDC, SAML, RBAC, ABAC, tokens, sessions, service‑to‑service authentication.
• Design and operation of high‑availability, observable, and secure production services.
• Secure software development practices and security‑by‑design principles.
• Experience with distributed system architecture and scalability.
