Compliance Officer (Open to Trainee Lawyers)

About the role

An established professional services firm offering corporate, accounting, audit, tax and advisory services to local and international clients is hiring a Compliance Officer in Nicosia, Cyprus. The role covers monitoring regulatory compliance, reviewing client KYC and risk assessments, maintaining internal AML procedures and reporting to senior management and relevant authorities. It is open to trainee lawyers and requires strong technical knowledge, professional judgement and integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with laws and regulations on money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF)
• Review, assess and report on compliance matters and monitor corrective actions
• Design and maintain internal AML controls and assess their effectiveness
• Identify weaknesses in AML controls and recommend improvements
• Prepare reports to MOKAS and ICPAC where required, and monthly and annual compliance reports for the Board
• Review KYC documentation, classify clients as High, Medium or Low Risk and advise on accepting or rejecting prospective clients
• Carry out periodic client reviews and keep KYC and due diligence records up to date
• Collaborate with internal departments and authorities on compliance matters, keep CPD and promote a culture of compliance

Required profile

• University degree in Law, Business or another relevant discipline
• AML certification
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar or legal role
• Excellent command of Greek and English, written and spoken
• High standards of professional ethics and integrity

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of AML legislation, KYC requirements and transaction reviews
• Knowledge of Company Law, GDPR and other relevant legislation
• Microsoft Office

• Salary of up to EUR 2,000 gross per month, paid in 13 instalments (negotiable)
