About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Operations Assistant to lead movement activities in Cyprus. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the National Project Officer, the role oversees travel coordination, staff supervision, and compliance with IOM movement SOPs.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise up to eight staff members in scheduling, booking, and managing travel requests, ensuring adherence to the Handbook of IOM Tariffs and SOPs.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of travel information, movement data files, and travel loan paperwork, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate identity verification, escort assignment, and pre‑departure counselling for vulnerable migrants.
- Compile and analyse descriptive statistics using iGATOR and ensure proper cost capture.
- Liaise with internal units, airport authorities, embassies, and UNHCR to resolve operational issues.
Required profile
- Six years of experience with secondary education or four years with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior experience in movement operations, transportation, or related management is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral); additional IOM official language is an advantage.
Required skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and general internet use.
- Experience with IOM movement databases and systems such as iGATOR, MiMOSA, SAR, and Amadeus.
