About the role
The National Migration Health Physician will lead the daily operations of migration health assessment programmes in Cyprus, reporting to the Chief of Mission and the Chief Migration Health Officer. The role combines clinical duties, coordination of referrals, and quality management to ensure safe, humane health services for migrants and refugees.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure efficient daily operations of IOM health projects in close coordination with the CMHO and project coordinators.
- Conduct comprehensive migration health assessments, including medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
- Manage medical referrals and treatment plans, including TB case management and immunisation programmes, in line with Cyprus public‑health protocols.
- Oversee data collection, quality control, and reporting using the MiMOSA system and other web‑based management tools.
- Develop and implement SOPs, monitor performance indicators, and ensure incident management compliance.
- Coordinate procurement of medical equipment, vaccines, and supplies together with the Resource Management Unit.
- Support staff training, supervision, and continuous improvement of health service delivery.
Required profile
- University degree in Medicine from an accredited institution and a valid medical licence to practice in Cyprus.
- Minimum two years of post‑graduation clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of clinical medicine, patient safety, infection prevention and control.
- Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral); additional IOM official language is an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and high ethical standards.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience using spreadsheet and database software.
- Ability to work with web‑based management systems, including MiMOSA.
- Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Procurement coordination and inventory management.
