Engineering Manager – Player Care Technology

About the role

We are seeking a product‑mindset, highly technical Engineering Manager to lead and scale the Player Care engineering function for our MMO 4X strategy game, Total Battle. Reporting directly to the Head of Player Care, you will own the technical architecture while building a small, high‑throughput engineering pod.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Head of Player Care to audit the current technology stack and define a strategic roadmap.
• Eliminate single‑point‑of‑failure risks, hire and grow a lean backend and automation team.
• Design and implement AI‑driven triage pipelines and large‑scale chat‑moderation/inference systems.
• Automate fraud detection, streamline raw‑SQL investigations and introduce diagnostics to boost agent efficiency.
• Manage regulatory and compliance risks for all Player Care technologies.

Required profile

• Proven backend engineering background with several years of building and leading teams from 1 to N engineers.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑throughput event‑driven architectures and message‑queue systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, BullMQ or Redis Streams.
• Demonstrated ability to design, ship and operate large‑scale, high‑availability services.
• Strong “build‑vs‑buy” decision making and cost‑aware execution.
• Full‑cycle people‑management experience including hiring, code reviews, performance reviews and terminations.
