Director of Housekeeping

About the role

The Director of Housekeeping leads all housekeeping operations for a luxury five‑star hotel, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction in line with Forbes 5‑star criteria. This senior position oversees a large, diverse team and collaborates closely with Front Office and Property Services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily cleaning operations across guest rooms and public areas, maintaining staffing levels within the manning budget.
• Develop and execute deep‑cleaning schedules for guestrooms, marble, carpets, and public spaces, including preventive maintenance coordination.
• Coordinate with Front Office to block rooms for maintenance and deep cleaning.
• Implement recognition programs to motivate and reward high‑performing staff.
• Oversee outsourced laundry, wardrobe, and contract cleaning services to meet Forbes 5‑star standards.
• Prepare CAPEX proposals, justify cost‑effectiveness reports, and control departmental expenses.
• Inspect VIP suites and guest rooms to ensure product standards and guest satisfaction exceed 90%.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as a Director of Housekeeping in a luxury five‑star hotel or resort.
• Degree or diploma in hospitality studies or a related field.
• Proven ability to lead teams of 80‑150 employees.
• Strong leadership, integrity and a high degree of professionalism.

Required skills

• Proficient use of property management systems and hotel operational software such as Birchstreet, Workday, and HotSos.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience with hotel PMS and reporting tools.
