Staff Engineer

About the role

Plum is building a proactive money platform that helps millions of people grow their savings. As a Staff Engineer in the First & Last Mile group, you will shape the core user lifecycle – from onboarding and authentication to engagement and subscriptions – across both mobile and backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design modular, scalable, and observable systems that support high‑volume experimentation and user‑engagement flows.
• Define and drive the cross‑platform strategic vision and roadmap, ensuring the architecture can iterate rapidly and meet future business needs.
• Promote continuous improvement by establishing architectural standards, engineering best practices, and operational excellence across multiple teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and other team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and career growth.
• Identify root causes of systemic issues and architectural bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership experience in building large‑scale, high‑throughput systems.
• Strong ability to translate business impact into technical roadmaps.
• Experience guiding teams through complex backend and mobile client integrations.
• Passion for improving engineering culture and driving rapid experimentation.
