Senior Backend Engineer Node.js + AWS

About the role

Deel is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale core services that power our global payroll and HR platform. You will work in a remote‑first environment, collaborating closely with product, design, frontend, and QA teams to deliver high‑impact features.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Frontend Engineers, Product Teams, Designers, and QA to create seamless experiences.
• Participate in product planning from discovery through deployment.
• Develop robust new features, APIs, and continuously improve existing services.
• Identify and resolve bugs quickly, maintaining Deel‑speed reliability.
• Ensure a customer‑centric approach through quality engineering and attentive development.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript best practices.
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data modeling.
• Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• Experience designing scalable, high‑volume systems handling concurrency and idempotency.
