Process Chemist – Desalination Plant Laboratory

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Process Chemist to manage and operate the laboratory of our desalination plant. The successful candidate will ensure water quality, support plant performance, and guarantee compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the fully equipped laboratory, including manuals and operational procedures.
• Perform all contractual laboratory tests and analyses required for the desalination process.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized laboratory environment.
• Calibrate and service water‑quality instruments and plant monitoring equipment.
• Supervise shift‑based laboratory analyses, produce daily reports, and alert management to any critical findings.
• Prepare monthly water‑chemistry sheets, product water reports, and submit them to the plant manager and client.
• Compile data for the Water Development Department and the Department of Environment, delivering daily, monthly, and annual reports.
• Collaborate with shift operators and maintenance staff to recommend actions that protect plant performance.
• Respond to plant emergencies, operate the PLC control system, and participate in the safety committee.
• Order, receive, and verify the quality of chemicals used in the plant and laboratory.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as a chemist in an industrial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
