Head of Risk (Limassol)

About the role

Bitvavo is seeking a local Head of Risk to lead risk management for its MiFID II regulated entity in Cyprus. Based in Limassol, you will report to the Group Head of Risk in Amsterdam and own the enterprise risk framework.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the risk management framework, including taxonomy, appetite, registers and the three‑lines‑of‑defence model.
• Produce board‑level risk reports, monitor credit, market, liquidity, operational and reputational risks, and respond to internal audit and CySEC findings.
• Oversee financial risk areas such as counter‑party exposure, margin methodology, market risk, liquidity stress testing and capital adequacy (ICARA, K‑factor).
• Manage non‑financial risk including third‑party outsourcing, business impact analysis, incident management and operational resilience under DORA.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of risk management experience in a regulated broker, exchange or clearing member, with several years leading a risk function.
• Hands‑on ownership of enterprise risk frameworks and self‑assessment processes.
• Deep knowledge of financial instruments (crypto, stocks, ETFs, derivatives, commodities) and related clearing/settlement processes.
• Familiarity with CIF prudential regulations, MiFID, DORA, EMIR and related CySEC reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Quantitative analysis of margin models, stress scenarios and exposure data.
• Regulatory reporting (FinRep, Corep) and capital adequacy monitoring.
