Game Backend C++ Engineer – Gameplay Team

About the role

Scorewarrior is looking for a skilled C++ engineer to join the Gameplay team and build new backend features for the large‑scale MMO 4X strategy game Total Battle. You will work on a sharded, horizontally‑scaled service architecture supporting hundreds of instances.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions for new game mechanics based on designer documentation.
• Prepare RFCs, discuss designs with the team, and deliver production‑ready code.
• Refactor and optimise existing systems for performance, maintainability and scalability.
• Monitor deployed features, perform post‑deployment analysis and ensure smooth operation.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold coding standards.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and proactive attitude.
• 3+ years of C++ development in a product‑oriented environment.
• At least 2 years of backend development experience.
• Solid understanding of software design principles and ability to apply them.
• Experience with network and multithreaded programming and relational databases.

• Knowledge of actor‑based frameworks such as Akka.NET or Microsoft Orleans (advantageous)
