Field Service Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

The Customer Support Business Group at Lam seeks a Field Service Engineer to deliver on‑site repair, maintenance and installation of complex semiconductor equipment. You will work directly with customers, ensuring their tools operate at peak performance and providing expert technical support throughout the equipment lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality on‑site repair, maintenance and installation/relocation start‑up services for Lam’s electro‑mechanical and electronic systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues down to the component level, applying corrective actions or escalating when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records and reports to coordinate activities between Lam and the customer.
• Stay current on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through continuous learning and certification.
• Represent Lam as a subject‑matter expert, delivering exceptional customer satisfaction and transparent communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of experience in installation, maintenance or repair of complex equipment, or graduate eligibility.
• Ability to work in clean‑room environments while wearing appropriate protective equipment.
• Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, and to work flexible shifts including overtime and on‑call.

Required skills

• Interpretation of electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Interpretation of mechanical schematics and diagrams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment.
