Field Service Engineer – On‑site Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer at Lam Research, you will be at the forefront of customer support for complex semiconductor equipment. You will ensure operational excellence by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting sophisticated electro‑mechanical systems, while collaborating closely with customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site repair, maintenance, and complete installation or relocation start‑up services for Lam’s complex electro‑mechanical and electronic systems at customer sites.
• Perform analytical problem‑solving, diagnostics, and component‑level troubleshooting to minimize downtime and equipment malfunctions.
• Stay current on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through continuous learning, training, and certification.
• Maintain detailed records and reports to coordinate activities between Lam and customers.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, representing Lam to customers, delivering exceptional satisfaction, and transparently discussing opportunities and challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or an advanced degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Physical capability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, climb, and stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, and to work flexible shifts, including overtime and on‑call as needed.
