Field Service Engineer 2

About the role

The Customer Support Business Group enables customers with premier support throughout the lifecycle of Lam’s semiconductor equipment. As a Field Service Engineer you will ensure operational excellence of complex electro‑mechanical systems, working directly with customers to deliver solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality on‑site repair, maintenance, and installation/relocation start‑up services for Lam’s complex electro‑mechanical and electronic systems at customer sites.
• Perform analytical problem‑solving, diagnostics, and component‑level issue isolation, taking corrective actions or requesting assistance to minimize downtime.
• Stay current on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through continuous learning, training, and certification.
• Maintain records and reports to coordinate activities between Lam and the customer.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, representing Lam to customers and delivering exceptional satisfaction.
• Communicate transparently with customers about opportunities and challenges to build trust, and provide status updates on Lam tools as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years experience, or equivalent advanced degree/experience.
• Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment while wearing required protective equipment.
• Physical ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel frequently, domestically and internationally, and to work flexible shifts, overtime, and on‑call as needed.
