Data Scientist – Search, Ranking & Recommendation

About the role

Mayflower is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Machine Learning team in Limassol. You will work on large‑scale search, ranking and recommendation systems that serve millions of users worldwide, helping to improve relevance, coverage and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise retrieval pipelines for high‑traffic search systems, including candidate generation, query processing and relevance improvement.
• Build, train and fine‑tune ranking models using learning‑to‑rank techniques and real‑time behavioural features.
• Develop recommendation models and multi‑stage pipelines for personalised and non‑personalised scenarios, balancing relevance, diversity and business constraints.
• Design and execute offline and online experiments, A/B tests and evaluation frameworks that link model quality to product and revenue metrics.
• Construct end‑to‑end ML pipelines for feature generation, model training, validation, deployment and monitoring, collaborating with product, backend, data engineering and MLOps teams.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience building production search, ranking or recommendation systems.
• Strong Python and SQL expertise for machine learning, data processing and analytical queries.
