Accessibility and Academic Support Specialist

About the role

The European University Cyprus seeks an Accessibility and Academic Support Specialist to develop and deliver accessibility services and assistive technology support for students and staff with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and document accessibility requirements of students and staff.
• Provide assistive technology support, including guidance on selection, activation and use of tools such as captioning, speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech and alternative formats.
• Support the pedagogical and technical development of accessible content and learning environments, offering consultation on Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Identify and document accessibility barriers across physical and digital university environments and contribute to improvements.
• Develop and deliver training, information and awareness activities on disability, accessibility, assistive technology, UDL and inclusive practices for academic and administrative staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education Sciences, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or related field.
• Master’s degree in Special and Inclusive Education, Disability Studies, Assistive Technology, Digital Accessibility or Educational Technology.
• Minimum two years of professional or practical experience in disability, inclusion or accessibility.
• Full fluency in Greek and English.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Assistive technology tools (captioning, speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech, alternative formats).
• Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Universal Design principles.
• Understanding of accessibility standards in higher education.
