Tax Assistant Expert

About the role

We are recruiting a UK Tax Assistant to join a specialised tax and advisory firm that advises high net worth individuals, internationally mobile professionals, entrepreneurs and expatriates on UK and international taxation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a taxation professional with UK personal tax compliance experience to develop expertise in a supportive, highly specialised environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file UK Self Assessment tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Manage UTR, PAYE and other UK tax registrations with HMRC.
• Perform income tax calculations for employment, self‑employment, rental, investment income and capital gains.
• Support income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and general tax planning assignments for individuals and businesses.
• Assist with expatriate UK exit notifications and double tax relief claims.
• Maintain accurate client records, tax files and supporting documentation.
• Liaise directly with HMRC regarding client matters when required.
• Ensure all filing deadlines and compliance obligations are met.

Required profile

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Minimum 3 years of experience preparing UK personal tax returns.
• Strong understanding of UK tax filing procedures, HMRC processes and Making Tax Digital requirements.
• Knowledge of UK tax deadlines and compliance obligations.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and tax/accounting software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
