Software Engineer Lead - International Delivery Team

About the role

FIS is looking for a Software Engineer Lead for its International Delivery Team, based in Cyprus. The team delivers PRIME, a payments platform used by hundreds of banks and financial institutions worldwide, working with international banking clients to modernise payment ecosystems, integrate with industry networks and support migrations from legacy platforms. The role uses cloud-native technologies, AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, DevOps and AI-enabled development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software solutions within the PRIME payments platform.
• Lead and support large-scale client implementations, including integration, deployment and customer onboarding.
• Delegate work and coach and mentor development teams.
• Work with international banking clients and internal stakeholders on business and technology transformation.
• Support integration with external systems, payment networks and third-party solutions, including data migration and certification activities.
• Promote engineering excellence through quality, automation and compliance.
• Contribute to modernisation initiatives with cloud-native technologies, microservices, containerisation and AI-assisted development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, payments, banking technology or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work with technical teams and customers.

Required skills

• Java or C++ with object-oriented design and development.
• Enterprise application development with Spring Boot, relational databases, SQL and REST APIs.
• Cloud-native technologies, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices are a bonus.
• DevOps, CI/CD tools such as Git and Jenkins, and frontend technologies (React.js, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3) or Oracle PL/SQL are a bonus.
• Payments industry experience (card issuing/acquiring, tokenisation, digital wallets, Visa/Mastercard, real-time payments) is a bonus.
