Head of Accounts – Larnaca

About the role

The Head of Accounts leads the accounting function for an aviation business in Larnaca, overseeing daily financial operations, statutory compliance and the performance of the accounts team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, fixed‑asset register, depreciation and month‑end/year‑end closing.
• Ensure timely VAT and VIES filings, prepare periodic VAT returns and verify supplier VAT registrations.
• Oversee statutory reporting such as ICAO, IATA and Central Bank submissions.
• Coordinate audit adjustments, review balance‑sheet accounts and handle IFRS 16 lease accounting.
• Lead, coach and support the accounts team, resolve escalated finance queries and maintain internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA) is an asset.
• 5‑7 years progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience in VAT/VIES compliance within Cyprus/EU regulations.
• Previous exposure to the aviation, travel or logistics industry is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as E‑soft or equivalent.
• Experience using statutory e‑filing portals (TFA, SisNet).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 16 lease accounting.
• Advanced Excel for large‑dataset analysis and validation.
• Hands‑on VAT and VIES compliance expertise.
• Foreign‑exchange accounting (realised/unrealised gains and losses).
• Payroll coordination and interaction with HR/social‑insurance authorities.
