Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Retail & Distribution

About the role

The company, a well‑established player in the distribution and retail sector, is seeking a visionary Chief Financial Officer to lead its finance function. Reporting to the Finance Director and CEO, the CFO will act as a strategic partner, shaping financial strategy and supporting sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and senior management.
• Lead the Finance Department, overseeing the Chief Accountant and Credit Control Manager.
• Ensure preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local legislation.
• Prepare, monitor and analyse the annual budget, forecasts and variances.
• Track financial performance through KPIs and deliver regular reports.
• Manage liquidity, working capital, cash‑flow and credit control processes.
• Maintain relationships with banks, audit firms, insurers and other external partners.
• Analyse profitability by product, category, customer and point of sale.
• Oversee financial aspects of inventory, warehousing, distribution and packing operations.
• Evaluate and support investments in infrastructure, automation and process improvement.
• Ensure robust internal controls, corporate governance and risk management.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Member of a professional accounting body (ACA/ACCA).
• Minimum 10 years of post‑qualification experience in a senior finance role, preferably within retail, distribution or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial reporting standards and strategic planning.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams and manage cross‑functional projects.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of IFRS and local financial legislation.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting and KPI monitoring.
• Experience with liquidity, cash‑flow and working‑capital management.
• Ability to manage credit control, collections and banking relationships.
• Competence in internal control design, corporate governance and risk management.
