Backend Unit Lead

About the role

TradingView is seeking a Backend Unit Lead to provide technical and organisational leadership for its Hub unit, unifying three teams into a single platform. The role combines strategic planning, hands‑on engineering, and people management to ensure reliability and scalability for a global audience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for the Hub unit, aligning the three teams as a single platform.
• Collaborate with architects to resolve critical tech debt and optimise system performance.
• Manage team leads of UDF, UDF Storage, and DevOps/SRE, including development, goal setting, feedback and career growth.
• Own platform reliability – SLO/SLA, availability, latency, on‑call culture, incident reviews and reduction.
• Lead disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity planning, covering RTO/RPO, dual‑hub scenarios and readiness checks.
• Handle capacity planning, scaling and operations on Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Drive hiring, performance reviews, compensation justification and engineer development.
• Coordinate with product and adjacent clusters to ensure cross‑team alignment.
• Improve development and delivery processes, including planning, metrics, quality and requirements management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing engineering teams, preferably multiple team leads simultaneously.
• Deep knowledge of Go (Golang) with ability to write and review code for complex architectural issues.
• Strong system‑design and solution‑architecture expertise, with solid understanding of operating systems and low‑level technologies.
• Experience delivering high‑load, low‑latency services in production.
• Understanding of SRE practices such as SLO/SLA, observability and incident management.
• Confidence working with Kubernetes and cloud/container infrastructure.
• Ability to build hiring, review and engineer‑growth processes.
• Systems thinking, comfort with ambiguity and prioritisation.
• Working‑level proficiency in Russian and English for internal communication and documentation.
