Protection Assistant

About the role

The Protection Assistant will support the National Project Officer in delivering protection services to migrants and refugees in Cyprus. This position contributes to IOM’s mission of promoting humane and orderly migration while ensuring the safety and well‑being of vulnerable people on the move.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of protection activities for migrants and refugees, including intake, case management and follow‑up.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of beneficiaries and protection interventions.
• Support vulnerable groups, such as unaccompanied minors and women at risk, by providing information and referrals.
• Coordinate with governmental, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners to ensure effective service delivery.
• Prepare regular reports, data entries and documentation required for project monitoring.
• Contribute to child protection initiatives and awareness‑raising activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology (or related field) with at least two years of experience.
• Experience working with migrants, refugees or in multicultural environments is desirable.
• Familiarity with vulnerable migrant groups or semi‑independent living units is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral) is required.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and strong work ethics.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities in a multicultural setting.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, including accurate record‑keeping.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Basic computer literacy.
