Staff Accountant – Cyprus Finance Team

About the role

As a Staff Accountant on the Cyprus Finance team, you will manage the day‑to‑day accounting operations of Coinbase Financial Services Europe Ltd (CBFSE), a MiFID‑regulated entity. You will ensure that the company’s financial records accurately reflect its crypto‑related activities across the region while supporting regulatory compliance with CySEC and the Central Bank of Cyprus.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily operational accounting for CBFSE, including journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Execute daily reconciliation reporting and periodic regulatory submissions required by CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus, and CIF frameworks.
• Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Source‑to‑Pay, and engineering teams to ensure correct accounting treatment and accurate financial reporting.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, analysis, and timely responses.
• Analyse business drivers, resolve discrepancies, and recommend process improvements to strengthen accounting operations.

Required profile

• 3+ years of accounting or finance experience within a Cyprus Investment Firm, Big Four, or fintech/financial services organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CPA preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience applying IFRS standards to operational accounting and reporting.
• Familiarity with CySEC and CIF regulatory reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in NetSuite, FloQast, and G‑Suite.
• Advanced Excel skills for reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with IFRS implementation.
• Understanding of CySEC regulatory reporting.
• Responsible use of generative AI to improve workflow efficiency.
