Lead Systems Engineer – Edge Infrastructure

About the role

Gcore is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to drive the design, deployment and operation of its global edge network. You will combine deep technical expertise with leadership to ensure the infrastructure that powers AI‑driven services is reliable, secure and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, implementation and maintenance of edge infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment and supporting software.
• Guarantee high availability, performance and security hardening across all systems.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, setting technical direction and goals.
• Develop and manage automation for provisioning, monitoring and routine maintenance using tools such as Ansible, Terraform and scripting languages.
• Define and enforce best practices for observability, incident response and configuration management.
• Collaborate with product, R&D, network, security and support teams to align infrastructure with business needs.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and lead incident resolution.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the platform.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering or SRE, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team‑lead role.
• Strong expertise in Linux/*nix environments.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively.

Required skills

• Python, Bash scripting.
• Automation tools: Ansible, Terraform.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (including hybrid setups).
• Networking concepts: BGP, routing, security, storage.
• Monitoring and observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Victoria Logs.
• Configuration management: Puppet (nice‑to‑have).
• Programming languages: C, Go.
